Dying Into New Life

Dying Into New Life

Here in chapter 6, Paul continues his development of 2 of the main themes of his letter to the church in Rome – sin and grace – in an eloquent argument that lifts up the effect of baptism on the Christian life.  Here Paul speaks in the past tense about the death of our old lives and in the future tense about being united with Christ in eternal life – and how we now – here in the present – are alive to Christ.  So, this week, we are called to remember our baptism and be thankful – and consider how we live our lives here and now in Christ!  The old life is gone, and a new life has begun!
